Just read an article from CBS News that breaks my heart… Susan G Komen one of the largest movements in the fight against breast cancer has recently decided to cut ties with Planned Parenthood.
If you were unaware Planned Parenthood performs “nearly 750,000 breast exams each year, critical services in detecting cancer.” And a large portion of last year’s $680,000 in funding from Susan G. Komen goes specifically to the exams and helping other breast health services.
At the end of the day the SGK foundation is free to choose who they care to invest their money, time, and energy into. Its just unfortunate that women who utilize Planned Parenthood’s services are often not able to seek medical assistance elsewhere.
But the real fight here isn’t about political influence or funding battles it is against cancer and other critical women’s health issues.
Use this media attention as a reminder to take the time to schedule yourself a mammogram.
And if you feel extra passionate about those affected from the cut take a few dollars and donate to help give another Woman the chance to have access to early detection.
